Biography

I had “plumbing troubles” for years but, September 2005 it became so unbearable that I couldn’t eat without terrible pain, so for a week I lived on pain meds then those weren’t helping. September 30,2005 My fiance’ Gene took me to the ER. The oncologist I was waiting to see all that time came into the ER and after a through examination, he thought it may be fybroid tumors so he scheduled a look-see surgery for the next morning. When I woke up from the surgery my oncologist explained what was going on in my body. He said the terrible pain was from the acites pushing against my intestines which had been fused or sealed by scar tissue. There was so much pressure from the acites that it crushed my bladder and crushed my intestines..hence the terrible pain. He removed a football size tumor that was attached to my right ovary and uterus. I also had stage 1-a of uturine cancer. The had to do a complete hysterectomy with removal of both ovaries as well. From how bad it looked he was sure I would be a stage 3-C but, we had to wait for the test results to be sure.

Well when the test results came back we were both relieved to find out it was contained due to the scar tissue. That put me at a stage 2-C with a secondary of uterine Cancer stage 1-a. 2 weeks after surgery I had my first of 6 rounds of carbo and taxol.

By chemo number 3 all my hair fell out, that was the worst for me. I just felt like my identity was gone.

My last Chemotherapy was Feb 2 2006. I have been lucky and have remained in remission since my surgery and have recently graduated to being seen by my oncologist every 6 months but, it seems everytime it gets closer to the visit, I get these ghost feelings that my cancer is back…but I have been told that ghost feeling thing hits everyone like that.

So now it is my goal to raise awareness and be there for anyone suffering from this silent killer.
