Lethargy

Do not give up.

Everything makes me feel like a '60's or '70's concert

7-2008 to present. Lethargic, no appetite, not able to focus for too long on anything, weight loss, strange thoughts, sleep seems to be all REM, dreams and or nightmares about Nam seem to pop up while I’m awake, anger, especially at the VA for not stepping up and admitting and approving my claims.

Biography

My name is Jim Reardon. I’m nearly 58 and a Viet Nam Veteran. I contracted Hep. in Nam. No testing was done in those days for returning Vets. When I finally got a physical several years later, it was too late. I was informed then that I would get Liver Cancer eventually, probably in my forties. I wasn’t diagnosed with Cancer until nearly 2 years ago.
I am presently on daily oral chemo. It’s kicking my butt. I have run 3 full marathons, 26+miles, the last 3 years, I have trouble walking across the street now.
I have found the biggest challenge to be staying positive. My wife and 17 year old daughter have been great in keeping up with diet issues etc. My son is a Senior at Florida State University, so he is not home often. He keeps in touch and tries to keep my spirits up, talking sports etc.
I keep waiting for my body chemistry to adapt to the meds., but it does not seem to happen. I am starting my 3rd month. The VA will do a CAT scan in November. Hopefully that will yield some positive data.
I guess I just wanted to put this out there. I do feel better sometimes when I talk about it.
