Everything!!!!!

Make me laugh!

I will start radiation on Monday, October 19th, Monday through Friday for seven weeks.

Cancer Symptoms

Found a lump on the right side of my neck otherwise I would have never known!

Surgery Description, Dates & Side Effects

Had outpatient surgery on September 10th. ENT doctor did a biopsy of the back of my tongue and tonsil so they could know where the cancer originated which was in the tonsil.

Radiation Description, Dates & Side Effects

I will start radiation on Monday, October 19th, Monday through Friday for seven weeks.

Chemotherapy Description, Dates & Side Effects

I will also start chemo on Monday, October 19th. That will be done after radiation every Monday for seven weeks. It’s a combination of three drugs: Taxol, Carboplatine and Erbitux. Will be asking why once a week when it seems everyone else that I’ve read about get three treatments throughout those seven weeks.

Hi Trice,
Thanks for the nice words. You should definitely wait on the new clothes. I made the mistake of buying two expensive outfits and then lost 30 more pounds! Had to give them away. You will find that even when you get some taste back, its hard to eat enough to gain weight. It will be a few years till your appetite gets back to the way it was. I am now weighing myself 5 times a day to make sure I stay on top of my weight this time and not let it get out of control. As long as you weigh yourself you know where you stand. I always found when I gained alot of weight I did not realize it – now I do. Two pounds up is gone next week!!

Hugs
Anna

trice…
sorry to hear the discomfort…
my guess it is due to the trush…i also had a period of time {after treatments} when my mouth again started to be coated with heavy mucus…it effected my taste/appetite…i also had increased pain in my throat area {small little cuts/open wounds}...it was horrible…i was placed on nystatin…it took some time but thank god it got better..
it was not until about a month ago when it fully ended {that is 6-7 months after the radiation/chemo ended}...up til then my mouth was still sensitive to certain foods {example: chocolate/sugar products}...my mouth felt like i was eating paste…uch !!
hope this is helpful info
hang in there…remember your body is still healing…

hello, miss your lovely comments on the blog, i am in the third week of radiation and only 3 more chemos to go erbitux.. rash on my chin,my neck and especially on the right side where the scare is from the surgery is bad..my mouth is sore had thrush and was on dificuan (spelling) and now they think the sores are just from radiation, i have the magic mouthwash to take before i eat, but that seems to get my stomach-diarrahi- but trade one for the other..no feeding tube and i pray every day that i dont have to get one..have only lost 2 pounds, but i am sure all this will change. i am ascared about the mucus -worried about sleeping at night and it will get caught in my throat and i wont beable to breath..i guess i read too many stories on the internet..otherwise i am still going to grandkids plays at school and out to eat ..i think of you often my e mail address is rlwcpa28@yahoo.com please keep in touch that way, can i have yours too, peace to you
and happy holidays.

Hi Patrice,

I was just checking in with you to see how things are going. how are you feeling? Are things getting better? I had a neck Disecction 3 weeks ago, they took out the remainder of the lump since rads didnt get it all. Doc says He got all The cancer and things are looking good. However, Im in another healing process. Im so sick of being sick. I just want my life back. Have you regained yours?? I need some GOOD stories, Im on a mental roller coaster with all this.

Hello there my cheerful friend, i had my first rad and chemo today (erbitux) i wish all treatments would go like this but i know that after reading all blogs that the hell is yet to come.. got a slight rash on my chin already my doctor said dont put anything on it yet.. i thank you for your support and hope all is fine with you.. i will discuss the feeding tube with doctor on wed. as they dont believe in giving it before you actually need it.. thanks again for your cheerful comments.. i wish i was as far as you in treatments.. your friend in wisconsin diane w

Hi Trice!
Last weekend my husband and I went to a very nice restaurant and I had mint marinated rack of lamb with goat cheese mashed potatoes. It was wonderful! Their cesar salad was nice too. The white wine hurt my mouth however. Its really just hit or miss – what works for me may not work for you. I can’t eat any fruit – it just tastes sour. I know you are looking forward to eating but it will take four months out of treatment before you are healed enough to take on the big leagues. I am taking a zinc tablet every day and I notice a difference in my taste so it is helping. Hang in there! I am rooting for you—Anna

did you go thru the same feeding tube operation as greg? are they all like that?
