Lumberlady's Profile PageBiographyI was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on December 3, 2010. After the initial shock I realized I have to stay positive because I have a lot to live for with two beautiful daughters, Tiffany and Samantha and a beautiful granddaughter, Avery. I had 3 months of 3 chemo drugs and the tumor shrunk to 1 centimeter but is still too close to the artery for surgery. I then had 5 weeks of radiation with the 1st and 5th week in the hospital for 5 day 24 hr 5 FU. This did the trick. I had surgery on July 29, 2011. I had a distal pancreactectomy and all my cancer was removed. I will have a couple cycles for chemo but my doctor says I am a miracle. This blog has been a great blessing in my life. LL,
Thank you for responding to my post. I am so happy to hear you had a successful surgery. I am praying for my sister to be a miracle too! Thank you for the phone number, I am going to pass it on to her.
She just completed her 3rd chemo treatment yesterday.
A CT scan has been scheduled for Monday (April 23) to see if there is any shrinkage in the tumor. Praying the chemo is indeed shrinking it and she will be a candidate for surgery.
Her chemo regimen is 4 drugs. Fluorouracil (5-FU), leucovorin, irinotecan and oxaliplatin. I have heard this will likely become the standard of care for pancreatic cancer.
Thank you so much for responding.
Sincerely,
Linda
Hi Lumberlady-
My sister (Becky) has recently been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Next week we are to see a surgeon to find out what her options are. From what I have read on pancreatic cancer I pray they will be able to operate.
I am a 2 yr anal cancer survivor and have appreciated BFAC during my treatment and continue to stay active on the anal cancer blog.
I don’t know what to ask or say but I need some guidance as to what to look for in a surgeon, what to ask, how to cope. I have been with my sister for her ERCP and EUS scopes. Today she learned the biopsy from the EUS procedure confirmed the mass is cancer. I do pray the surgeon we are seeing believes the cancer can be removed by surgery.
ANY suggestions as to what I need to do to help her at this point I would greatly appreciate.
I am trying to keep up hope. The few survivor stories I have read have given me much needed hope for her.
I hope you are doing well.
Linda
Hi, I was wondering how you were doing? Happy New Year. Hope the holidays were good. Take care…
