Biography“Bladder Cancer!”, wow, didn’t see that one coming… This is what I remember saying to my urologist during our first meeting when he announced I had Cancer and we needed to operate…yesterday! You must understand that I didn’t fit the profile for this disease. I wasn’t a man (not that I knew of anyway…even if my name was of particular masculine gender because my dad wanted a son to carry his name. I got tagged with that task anyway), I wasn’t over 50 and I didn’t smoke. Go figure! I know it will sound like such a cliché but my world did stop turning, if even for a minute, at the sound of that “C” word. But after a few weeks of battling it out with all my witty personalities, we came to a consensus that this might not be the way to go about dealing with this situation. That’s when I decided to deal with this disease as a life lesson and not a death sentence. That when I created a Cancer Survivor calendar with the sole purpose of raising awareness and funds for Cancer Research. It was an emotional project and one I thoroughly enjoyed. It was about “surviving” this disease and living with a sense of “gratitude”. Out of my gratitude, came this beautiful, 18 month calendar which features survivors and their inspirational stories. The Calendar is being sold at a price of $10 on my site at http://www.freewebs.com/cancersurvivorcalendar/index.htm and all proceeds will be given to Cancer affiliated programs such as the Canadian Cancer Society. You can show your support by purchasing one of the calendars This journey has been a beautiful one but not without its share of obstacles. I was unaware of how difficult it would be to distribute this calendar. I was naïve into thinking that by “creating them…they would come”. I guess it only works in baseball movies! I still believe that there will be a divine intervention and someone will come out of nowhere and offer their assistance in distributing these and then “the calendars” can finally serve their intended purpose of raising funds for Cancer Research. I need a Good Samaritan…if you’re out there reading this…I need you. With Love & Light! Klaude Omorean AKA The Cancer Survivor Calendar Girl! Cancer SymptomsNone really. Just had to pee a lot and often but it was never painful just annoying. Surgery Description, Dates & Side EffectsThey removed the tumor by going throught the urethral tube. October 30th 07 was my surgery date and I had a great doctor. I had chemo injected into my bladder right after surgery as a preventive method. I had a hysterectomy in Feb 08 as a preventive surgery because of where the tumor had been removed from. The recovery for this was 12 weeks long and very painful. Still have side-effects from that last surgery. Chemotherapy Description, Dates & Side EffectsFoggy brain. Forgetfulness. Fundraising DescriptionI created a Cancer Survivor Calendar while I was in recovery of my Hysterectomy. I was filled with gratitude and needed to do something to show my greatfulness to God for pulling me through this and giving me a second chance. I am selling the calendar for $10 on my site at http://www.freewebs.com/cancersurvivorcalendar/index.htm. |
