Kimz57bc2's Profile PageBiographyI am 54 yrs old, I have been with my better half for over 11 years. He is my main support. I have two sons and three grandchildren. We are from New Orleans but moved away 7 years ago. I have family in Nevada and in Louisiana. We are somewhere in-between…in the big state of Texas. We feel we are here for a reason. Texas has wonderful cancer facilities here. So I feel I am gettng excellent treatment. I just hope everything we are doing is going to work. It’s a journey…one I didn’t expect, nevertheless, it’s a journey that will hopefully make me a stronger person. Cancer SymptomsNone…found my lump myself. Surgery Description, Dates & Side EffectsNo surgery date scheduled yet. Started with systemic chemo a/c followed by (now) taxol and herceptin. Hope to have surgery in October 2011 Radiation or Proton Therapy Description, Dates & Side EffectsWill follow surgery, whenever that will be decided Chemotherapy Description, Dates & Side EffectsI just finished 4 rounds of A/C chemo treatments. Fatigue and infection was my worst enemy. First chemo treatment, I was in the hospital with pneumonia and neutrepedic. Very sick. I can only say I am glad its over. Now I am getting a port and will start Taxol next week. |
Great profile pic. What kind of dogs?
when I had the cyst aspirated in April my breasts had been very swollen and painful because I have fibrocystic breast disorder. even after the cyst shrank I could feel a small hard knot. eventually my breasts softened and the small lump seemed even more noticeable. it has remained constant. I recently called a local breast center to see if they took new patients for diagnosis. they do not. I would have to be disgnosed with cancer before they could see me. but after I told the lady what had happened with me she gave me the name of a dr who is a specialist in breast ultrasound of breast cancer. she said if I can get my gp or gyno to write an order for her to do an ultrasound on me that she would get to the bottom of this. she said that this dr will explain everything she is seeing on the screen. and if she is suspecious at all she will do something about it. I plan on calling my dr tomorrow to see if he will send me to her for a second opinion. thank you for your encouragement. there seems to always be justification for both sides of the decision making process. either trust the drs and the machine that they say are so “smart” or trust yourself and fight to be heard. atleast if I fight for more tests and it ends up being all right I’ve only waisted a few days and a few dollars. but if I choose to ignore it I could loose my life.
Oh you should use Johnson’s Baby Shampoo or a shampoo that is really gentle on your scalp at first.
Kim, HI! Right now I honestly can’t remember when my hair started growing back but I have a regime that has helped it to come in: 1) Hair Vitamins 2) Be gentle with your scalp until you are a month or more after chemo 3) Always massage your scalp when shampooing 4) Try Nioxin Shampoo and Conditioner, I had some problems at first- broke out in a rash and itched like a big dawg (use liquid Caladryl on your scalp until the rash is gone 5) Use a babies brush to brush your hair and scalp 6) Use Verseo shampoo which helps your hair grow (Get it on line) 7) Once you have some hair use a soft brush to brush your scalp and hair- stimulates bloodflow which makes hair grow or so I am told. 8)While doing all that pray and wait LOL
