Biography

I was shocked when I found out I had cancer. I thought it was a hemmorroid, which I thought was bad enough. According to one doctor, I am “ridiculously healthy” otherwise. I’ve always been concerned about taking care of myself so it came as quite a surprise to those who know me too. Some think it was wasted effort but I think taking such good care of myself will only help me get through this adventure and might even make it a tad easier. I’m looking forward to being done with this and getting back to “normal” life which has had to be put on hold.

Cancer Symptoms

Some bleeding, thought I had a hemmoroid.

Thanks everyone. Ruth, I have spent time in the water with dolphins 3 times: once in Hawiaii at Sea Life Park and twice at the Mirage in Las Vegas. The Hawaii swim was more about playing. We held their fins and they gave us a ride and we would wait and get a foot push up and out of the water. I found out the hard way NOT to wear a 2 piece suit during a foot push! The Mirage program is as a trainer for the day. It is ALL day and you do what the trainers do so every day is different. This picture is from the first time I did the program. They did make sure we got some great pictures but it is supposed to be more about educating people than playing with the dolphins.

Hi Jessica,
I just found your blog. You seem like you’re feeling pretty good. That is excellent! I know I felt terrible toward the end of treatment and the gym was the last thing I wanted to do. So keep up the great attitude.
Wondering from your picture…where did you swim with the dolphin? I swam with one at Discovery Cove in Orlando. It was amazing. And it took place about 4 months after my treatment ended so it was a terrific celebration of life for me. I have a picture of it on my blog.
Wishing you well as you move along.
Ruth

Hello there – just wanting to send wishes for a really good outcome for you at the end of this treatment. Sounds like you are doing great. I will be three years post-treatment in September this year and all is well. much love to you and sending you healing vibes, janet

Hi Jessica,

Thanks for making me your friend. I am almost at the end of my treatment and have found everyone on this blog to be so supportive and helpful. I am so glad I found it and that you did too. Please feel free to ask any questions or just vent if that is what you need to do. This is a very scary process and you will need all the help you can get to get through it. Be strong, question your doctors, have a good support group around you and try to keep your sense of humor. I will be thinking of you and let me know if I can help in any way. Always, Maya

Hi Jessica,
Just found your blog and I’m happy that you found us at this critical time although I’m sorry to be meeting you this way. Two years ago I started my treatments. The people here have helped me tremendously with their patience, information and overall support. It’s so important to be able to connect with people who know exactly what you’re going through and can help you along during and after treatment. Praying for you and sending you hugs!
