Danean's Profile Page
My name is Danean (rhymes with “machine”) and I was diagnosed with rectal adenocarcinoma in August of 2009 at the ripe old age of 41.
I had a trans-anal resection October 5th, radiation five days a week for five and a half weeks from November 16th through January 5th, and took Xeloda until my platelet count fell so low that my oncologist made me stop taking it.
My advice to all who will listen: If you are over 50 – get a colonoscopy. If you are under 50 and have blood on your toilet paper, please don’t assume it’s hemorrhoids – get a colonoscopy. If something’s wrong, believe me, you want to know as soon as possible. This type of cancer is highly treatable when detected early.
Rectal bleeding that my gynocologist said was “probably hemorrhoids,” lower back ache, occasional diarrhea.

Danean! Am posting this on both you pages to make sure you see it! Keep calm sweetie and breathe!
Danean I hate the fact that you are being checked and worried about a brain tumour on to =p of all you have beeen through! You probably remember me being frantic with mt 2 diagnosis for an ependymoma and a pituitary tumour! I still carry the fear that they can grow or go malignant but they are watching me closely as they are to small to do any kind of surgery on safly and are still benign! I have an MRI every 6 months for these and am scheduled here again in January for my next one.So far so good, but they keep me under close watch because Tonsil cancer can spread easily to the brain and could turn these malignant, also my mom dies from brain cancer.
I have a great neuro surgeon who has really helped to put my mind at ease. He said that 1 in 4 people have a brain tumour that they never knew about all their lives, because most of these are benign and never move ofr change. My 2 tumours are not considered a huge thing but I am glad I know about them and that I am being watched so closely! Ihope this helps ease your mind . I will be praying that there is nothing signifigant there, except your healthy wonderful caring brain! Breathe Girl! Hugs valxoxoxoxo
Rats I am so far behind with stuff I did not, thanks for the reminder!
You are right that it is expensive…but then, not more than going out to dinner a couple of times…so I’ll give it a try..need to figure out how to get the ad on BFAC so Jill can benefit!
hope you are well. Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. SO TIRED. I have my chemo again tomorrow-five more hook-ups to go. I had a sinus, ear infection this past week and now I am on an anti-biotic. I usually get to go to church every other Sunday but did not make it today. I had a CT/Pet scan two weeks ago and an enlarged lymph node showed up in my right breast. My oncologist is not concerned about it at this time. But I will go see my breast surgeon as soon as I can but I am so tired of keeping up on my TWO cancers. But God has a plan, He is with me, loving me, guiding me, comforting me.
God Bless You, Elizabeth

Absolutely, I am always looking for good material. The book is mostly going to be about my own experiences, but I prefer to look at things from the funny side of life as you know ;)
My address is ssaaty21236 @ hotmaildot com.
Thanks so so much!
Hi Danean, What was the pep talk that your doctor gave you about bleeding? My doctor in the past has said it is probably because the radiation has thinned the skin and blood vessels are near the surface. But, it was also a symptom of the anal cancer, so it always worries me. Lately, I have had blood when I wipe and on my stool several times a week (and I have in the past, too). Anyway, I hope that you are doing well. Cherie
I’ve not been to Yosemite, PLEASE post them!
Daneen….I am so sorry to read about your bad days. I have problems from the pelvic radiation and the chemo, but no surgery like yours. I admire your strength. Post every now and then and tell us how you are, even if you are not so well…this disease gets you and then the treatment knocks you out and then the long-term recovery is hard too. A triple whammy.
Here’s another hug. HM
Hi Danean, yep it’s a RAV4…one of the earliest ever made, a 96 stick shift, drove it in Spain and Argentina. Still in great shape and only 96K miles! I hope to outlast it but I’ll have to stay in good condition!
Hi Danean! Thank you for the early birthday wishes. How are you doing?
