Cancer Symptoms

I found a lump in my right breast during a self-breast exam.

Surgery Description, Dates & Side Effects

7/10/08—Lumpectomy, 1 sentinel node, and 2 other nodes removed. Nodes were free of cancer.

Radiation Description, Dates & Side Effects

Started radiation on 9/8/08. 5x/week for 6 weeks.

Hormone Therapy Description, Dates & Side Effects

Started Tamoxifen on 8/26/08, was taken off of it on 10/2/08. I had very few side effects, including minor muscle aches—which went away after a couple of weeks—and fatigue, but the emotional effects were getting serious. I cried all the time and could not focus my mind enough to even get through washing a sink-full of dishes. I was definitely sinking into depression. Doc took me off the med until 3 weeks after radiation ends, at which time I will ease back on slowly.

thanks for your post. It helped :)

Thanks Kathy for the post and your support. It means a lot.

Hey Curly!
Thanks for visiting and your comment.
Hope you continue to be well and I will be another of your many supporters.
Stop by any time, one of my goals through this life is to see if I can make as many people smile as I can. One of these days I’ll go to an open mike night around town and see if it works for a second or third career!
Take care :)
xoxo,
Debbie

Thanks for your post. I wish you the best to! This is a tough battle, but we will get thru this. Peace….

Hey Kathy,

Karen and I would love to meet up with you anytime! I live in El Dorado Hills (which is about 2 hours or so east of SF), but if you’re in the Bay Area, we can meet half way.

Let me know when you’re going to be around and we’ll make it happen.

I think of you so often and hope you and your hubby are well.

Keep fighting!

Jill

Hey Kathy,

Just been thinking about you.

I hope all is well.

Jill

Hi Kathy. It is so nice to hear from you! I am doing pretty good. It’s been 1 year now since my diagnosis & I am still hanging in there & I feel ok. Not perfect but better than last year anyway. How are you feeling? i am going to go read your latest posts. I havn’t been on in a really long time. I hope all is well with you.

Thanks so much for your advice and comments on my blog. I appreciate it all. And will definetely let you know what happens. :) (((HUGS)))

I just wanted to say thank you for your prayers for my Mom. We received some wonderful news today and I want to thank you for reaching out to her. We must all pray for one another and carry each other’s burdens. Love to you,

~~~~Dear Cheryl,
What time is dinner? I want what you’re making!
I’m glad you have finally gotten some relief with your meds. And you are eating! Good for you! You may have been craving that donut because you’ve been eating so little and needed some fat to feed your nerve connections. It’s good for you.
Sleep well, eat well, and be awake well!
Peace,
Kathy~~~~~~~~~
Dear Kathy,
Boy am I eating!! I was up at 3am, couldn’t get back to sleep so I fixed oatmeal and toast. Truly wish I could have everyone to dinner. What a time that would be
Just had to tell how much your support has meant to me. The love I have received has been beyond value and so uplifting. Your words have been so caring I can’t thank you enough.
Love, hugs and prayers to you sweetie. Cheryl~~~~
I am still waiting for authorization from the insurance company to get the mri. I feel like i’m in limbo. Waiting is not one of my strong suits.
I really hate getting MRIs but waiting to get one is 100xs worse. I hope you are doing well. I dont post much anymore because I just have nothing going on. I guess nothing is better in this case. Take care of your self & be well.
Hey Kathy,
Thank you so much for your words of comfort and kindness. The support I’ve received has been amazing. As soon as I go bald, I’ll post the wig pics…I’m actually looking forward to that part of this awful journey.
Be well,
Jill
Kathy – Thanks for the comment. I swear I just can’t sleep enough. But besides that I am feeling pretty good. Saw my oncologist yesterday and he thinks I am doing fine. Took the BRCA gene mutation test yesterday. Should have the results in two weeks and going to have a PET scan. But I feel good about both these. Just want to know for sure. You know what I mean. Hope you are doing well! ;-)
Hi Kathy,
Thanks so much for response to my last post. I know I am late with it..lol. I so appreciate you thinking of me on mothers day =)
Also, thanks for your insight on the whole “picture” thing with my dad. I think I’ll give it some time before I ask him about it. Whatever gets you through right?
Hope all is great with you =)
Love,
Lisa
hi Kathy,, you got me curious,, you say that i know you but not from this site,, where then do I know you…
hope that all is well with you ,, God bless
Ray O
Hi kathy,,, you are right i don’t believe that I do know you,, but to me that is besides the point
I appreciate you letting me know that you are praying for me,, that is a great comfort in one’s life,,
Well you know i was a bit surprised when the oncologist told me but hey, what can one say except thank the Lord for the time that He has given me here on earth,,, yes we all wish that it was longer but hey, i am so grateful to my God for giving me the people here on earth while i am here,,,, Starting with my lovely wife Rochelle, God knew who i needed in my life and gave her to me as a special gift from God, and then he gave 4 beautiful children , 1 boy and 3 girls, and with that came 8 fantastic grandchildren.. So what more can anyone ask for but to have God in his life plus the beautiful people he has put in my path,, Ya, i am no different from anyone else, i have had my problems and lots of them but once i came to know Christ and accept Him in my life, then i began to understand things in a much clearer way
That it was not me but instead is way to always find a way to put others first and by doing that i found myself getting richer by the moment
No, not richer monotary wise,, but instead by doing for others made me lacking in nothing
Anyway i just wanted to thank you
God bless you in a special way Ray O
