Biography

Wife, mother, and grandmother. Worked 34 years at General Motors before retiring. Now work at a roofing company as a receptionist/secretary. Had hysterectomy for fibroids and endometriosis 16 years ago. Left ovaries in for natural menopause and since there was no family history of ovarian/breast cancer. Thought all my symptoms were due to digestive problems. I was wrong.

Cancer Symptoms

Bloating. Constipation. Abdominal pain. Increased need to urinate.

Surgery Description, Dates & Side Effects

Surgery November 30, 2011 Bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, omentectomy, lymph node and appendix removal. Staging. Left ovary cantalope sized (0ver 6” diameter} was wrapping around bowel. Right ovary golf ball sized. 5 Days in hospital.

Chemotherapy Description, Dates & Side Effects

Start Jan 6, 2012 Six rounds of carboplatin and paclitaxel once every 3 weeks.

What an incredible new world we are in. I was diagnosed just about when you had surgery, now I am into second week of radiation. I tell you, we women are too quick to self diagnose as you and I both did that. Let’s make sure to suggest to our family and friends not to make the same error. Let’s keep talking, it seems to help me.
