Tips for others on how to deal with the physical side effects of chemo/cancer:
Get lots of rest and rest whenever you want whether it's convenient or not to other members of your family. Don't feel guilty for not feeling like or being able to do the things you used to do before you took ill. This is the time to be selfish and take care of "you".

Tips for others on how to deal with the mental struggles of chemo/cancer:
Keep positive. Believe you're going to beat this thing.

Cervical Cancer Symptoms:

Was constantly tired and apathetic. No energy or will to do much of anything. Vaginal bleeding commencing about 5 years after menopause escalated to severe hemoraging one weekend.

Radiation or Proton Therapy Description, Dates & Side Effects:

fatigue, constant nausea, uncontrollable bowels, diahrea from hell!, dehydration. A couple of blisters on my hiney. The good news: the bleeding stopped after the second radiation treatment. Brachytherapy, 4 sessions, was interrupted for a blood transfusion for critical low blood cell counts.

Chemotherapy Description, Dates & Side Effects:

Have had 5 chemo treatments. Took 5 hour “naps” afterwards. Some foods tasted nasty! Normally a huge water drinker but water nauseated me. Required at home IV infusions of Potassium and Magnesium for 8 hours/day for total of 15 days, also received a few infusions at the clinic for dehydration and low electrolytes. Anti-nausea meds didn’t work on me.

Clinical Trials:

5 year clinical trial – CT vs PET - I drew the short straw and am in the CT group.
