Barbara's Profile Page

Biography

I was diagnosed with tonsil and breast cancer in early December 2010. I had left neck resection to remove almost 100 nodes on Dec 6, 2010 and underwent IMRT and Cistplatin from Jan 17 through March 8, 2010. I also had 2 surgeries on right breast and 3 weeks of radiation ending the end of March 2010. I am now working to regain strength. This has been a surreal experience and I have battled the emotional and physical side effects. I thought that I would be able to go back to work in July but am battling fatigue and still not eating normal…I miss going places with my grandchildren and am learning the real meaning of one day at a time.

Thank you Barbara.

Love Barb

Thanks for your comment, Barbara. I’m glad to hear that I’m not the only one who feels that anxiety about doing stuff that used to be easy (well, not “glad” exactly, because I’d rather that no one go through this, but you know what I mean!). I guess we just have to keep pushing through, and hope that it gets easier as time goes on. I’ll keep you in my thoughts as you start your new treatment-Ann

Hello Barb, Yes, I have been thru 30 treatments as of tomorrow, I was in the chamber 2hours and 30 minutes everyday. You will feel like a new WOMEN after coming out treatment! It’s wonderful…. You can watch TV while in the chamber and They can talk too you thru telephone intercom system. The staff stays right outside the chamber and it is clear glass so you can see all around. As I said I completed 29 due to the radiation treatment my teeth died and I finally had all of them extracted and the chamber is too produce new blood vessels in my mouth so I heal otherwise I will have big holes in my mouth and will never heal. I have an appt. with the oral surgeon on Thur to see if I’m healing or I need more treatment. If you have any question please don’t hesitate too ask… I wish you the best…. MAY GOD BE WITH YOU! I WILL PRAY FOR YOU…. YOUR FRIEND CINDY

Hon you’ll be fine – bring a good book and read through your treatments!
